Bruce lee started his film carrer very early in life and starred in many chinese theartre films most of these films to my knowledge are not available or have been lost to the ravages of time,Bruce lees first major role was in the hong kong film produced by the shaw brothers,"THE BIG BOSS" was a massive hong kong hit smashing all records for sales across asia and records for asian films in europe and america,This film caught the attention of the asian crowd and Bruce lee turned in a good performance but by no means his best (in terms of acting) but in the realms of kung -fu he made no mistake in showcaseing his skills to the world. The big boss was a groundbreaker from the usual kung-fu flick of the time which was usually swords and magic, but the big boss had a story a strong lead and better choreography therefore only logical it launched bruce lees carrer. After the big boss came the now legendary "FIST OF FURY" this film truly was and still is a kung-fu "tour de force" with bruce lee in the peak of condition and with bruce at the helm and with more control of the film he took it to another level and made a classic film that showcased his acting and kung-fu to the fullest, this film had at the time yet again broken all the records set previously by the big boss and rightly so as the values and acting were of better quality as the budget was higher than the big boss, the fight scenes were yet again breath taking including the scene where bruce lee gets surronded and proceeds to kick....well i think you know what he does in this scene and many others in fist of fury all in all this film was another step up for the rapidly rising star that was bruce lee.Next in line was bruce lee's own movie produced and directed by him and shot on location in rome called "WAY OF THE DRAGON" this film was bruce lee's baby he had complete control and it showed, this was another classic film which again broke records all over the world for an asian film, the film cast bruce as (yet again!) the saviour of opressed chinese people, which by the way far from being a statement about himself,he wanted to show chinese people how strong they are not just labeld as the "the sick men of asia".He acts very well in this film but not as well as he could due probably to his pressures of directing and producieng but his kung-fu once again reigned supreme and he made cinema history by co-ordinateing probably the best fight scene ever put to film, with a at the time a little known martial artist/actor called"chuck norris".This fight scene has never been betterd for realism grit and pure presence and speed of the two men.If you dont have this film on any format i suggest you get it just for that fight scene alone as you will never see a better scene. That concludes bruce lee's hong kong carrer as around the time of 1971/2 he got the call he wanted from warner brothers and was cleared to make the now masterpeice of his carrer...................
